Hey, Creatives!

SUMMER 2025 ONLINE CLASSES

X Meets Y: How to Find Comp Books

$40

Literary agents and editors want our pitches, query letters, and fields in Query Manager to include comps, or comparable titles, for our manuscripts. I'll show you a couple of resources you may not have heard of (besides bookstore websites) to help you pull together this information. I’ll give you work time to find your comps.

Wednesday, May 28 from 7:00 - 9:00 PM (CST)

OR

Friday, June 27 from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM (CST)

Writing for the Education Market

$125

Writing work-for-hire books for the education market usually entails nonfiction, although I've also written historical fiction. Publishers in this genre of children's lit are looking for skilled writers to research, write, and work with an editor(s). If you want to get a published book(s) on the shelf or share your expertise with students/classrooms, try this genre.

T and Th, June 17 & 19 from 6:00 - 9:00 PM (CST) -- 2 sessions

OR

Saturday, July 12 from 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM (CST) -- working lunch

The WR in WRiting Children’s Lit: Workshop and Revision

$275

Are you deep in your manuscript and want to move forward with your work? Do you want to talk craft, dig into examples, and workshop with others? If you write PB, early readers, chapter books, MG, or YA, join this class of creatives already enmeshed in their stories. Why is this not broken down into categories? I’ve found that writers have unique perspectives, and I like not having silos.
